Payless is getting smart

I'm not sure how many in the blogosphere actually frequent Payless.com as a legitimate place to shop for footwear, but I often pay the site a gander just to check out cheap shoes and their collabs which actually are quite good. Anyway, I have been meaning to get the traditional saddle oxford for almost two years now as a cheap alternative to the others that can be attributed to the likes of Steve Madden, Nine West, etc. Although I have never gotten around to it, I have noticed a price increase on the shoe. I vividly remember that the price on these babies used to be $14.99 and now, they are $17.99. Still all man-made materials, same product description (so I'm assuming nothing else has changed), the lining may have turned into a checked/plaid pattern, but who knows? I just don't get the price increase, Payless. Keep your shoes cheap, and let it be known that your price increase, albeit measly, has motivated me to search for better crafted versions, although I have yet to stumble upon a pair with the same clunky kid-ish black/white cuteness complete with small perforations and brown sole...

Recommendations, anyone?

I too pop by payless once in a while. My patent leather booties are from Payless. And these oxfords are so cute, a bit too clunky for my taste (I'm always afraid clunky flat shoes are going to make me look shorter) but cute. Maybe they're less clunky in person though? Oh and to answer your question, my blazer is from the little boy's section at goodwill.

That is RIDICULOUSLY cheap... our manmade shoes can be three times that price...

American Apparel store in UK puts their prices up sneakily too, which bugs me no end!

I don't really like Payless because I think it's not worth the money since some pairs are over $15, when clearly some of their shoes are crap quality. haha

Good luck on your search, though!

Hey man, if it looks good and cheap, that's all that matters.
I remember, my family and I used to go to the US just to hit up Payless, dump our old shoes away, and come back to Vancouver, Canada with the news shoes and telling customs that we "only went for dinner" and not having to pay taxes LOL.
Cheap Asians...but we haven't visited Payless in years. Don't really know why. They have great shoes like you've pointed out.

Hi creeper,

You are equally cute. I had to wear these shoes all through highschool, and I loved them.

surprisingly, I'd totally wear those school girl oxfords... with a bandage skirt and a black tshirt, I'd be ready to go :)

How funny, I used to wear those shoes (I swear they're identical from what I remember) when I went to St. Mary's Catholic school in the 1st grade :)

I like the shoes, but Payless can kiss my nonexistant ass. So many bad visits there... I went in the other and found the perfect keds knockoffs for $3 but the lady said they were $15, despite, the tags on all the shoes...asshole.
