guns and butter

Mmmm, I haven't made these collages in a while. So I made two to compensate. I thought the economy analogy blog title was mildly appropriate for the times. Stats says there's an increase in violence and aggression in times of recession. I wonder if its subconsciously reflected in the trends nowadays? There is a loose theme throughout the collages; more apparent in the bottom one than in the top. Military-inspired, spikes, guns, armored-warrior rings, studs, shredded/destroyed things, fur, mean-looking things, dark and somber...

Hope everyone had some good turkey. And got some wonderful things on Black Friday...? I got up at the decent hour of 11 on Friday and went out to do some random shopping (none of that 6 AM insanity and never ever after seeing this). I don't know why I even bother, I have gone two years in a row now and its just madness, really really silly madness. I guess I just prefer shopping online or when its uncrowded, nice and quiet. Are the deals really that good?

horses

There is something very mysterious, wild, and fantastic about horses.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for what I've been throwing on lately. Reverting back to safe regulars. And often times, it is just too cold to think in the morning about what I'm wearing. It's hard enough to wake up at 6:45 (I am freakish with my ways, don't ask) for an 8 'o clock class.

I feel like talking about shoes. The only closed-toe shoes I have at the moment are my Clarks wallabee and these Dolce Vita booties that Danielle so graciously sent me from Solestruck.com. Oh and a gold leather pair of Converse which are hardly worth mentioning and seem so odd to me at the moment. It's funny how college is so not a place for heels, yet I have more pairs of 3+ inch heels here than I do any other type of shoe. After seeing this photo shot by the Sartorialist, I'm kind of itching for another pair of Converse, thoughts? Mmm, the truth is, there's not much to think about, they're so... basic, I might as well.

I made these. I don't know what they are.

balloon

Home for the weekend. Decided to give drop-crotch balloon (Aladdin, MC Hammer, Emanuelle Alt etc.) pants a try. After putting them on, I decided that regardless of what they look like, these would be on heavy rotation in my wardrobe. Why? They are the comfiest things, ever. Hands down. I know there's more tailored versions of dc, a prime example being Lulu's amazing Orphan pair, but I think I prefer the balloon dc nearly-sweatpant combination personally.

Oh and random, but there's a little story behind the first photo. I always sit in the same place in the library and directly in front of me there's a little section that's all indexes of fairytales, myths, and folklore. I've never actually bothered to get up and look at what they're like, but I did get around to breaking out the camera and zooming in enough (from where I was sitting) to get a photo. Now that I have photo evidence, I'm really curious now...

falling nowhere

The view from the fifth floor balcony is really scenic: all autumn colors and uh, construction of the baseball stadium...? Are any States-siders feeling thrown by the one hour shift? I think that might be why I feel tired, sleepy, and weird lately.

happy belated halloween

I spent zero money on my rockstar 'costume'. Just kind of threw on an all black outfit, some random jewelery, put on some extra eye makeup than usual and tried to keep my hair in a deep side part (which did not work out well). The outfit barely looks out of ordinary for me, but it worked. I got asked multiple times what I was channeling. "Goth, emo, punk...?" Makes me wonder what people are thinking on a day-day basis...

PS: After parading around the street to 'see and be seen' by all the other people wearing costumes, I went to go play some more and in the process of playing, lost one of the mirrors on my shoe. Needless to say, I was pretty upset that my DIY couldn't hold up better.

Tshirt + skirt, American Apparel. Tights, Urban Outfitters. Socks, Target. Heels, Nine West Sullibans (and then later DIY mirror shoes because there was too much walking involved and I did not want to die). Leather jacket, unknown. Earrings, Claires.
