AVANTE-GARDE, EDGEY, AND MICKEY MOUSE? These are just a couple of the words that come to mind when I think of Priestess NYC/Shanghai F08 collection. Drape-y fluid dresses coupled with well-tailored skirts and a funny Mickey Mouse print thrown into the mix...and you better believe I am on board! Please please keep your eyes peeled for Cody Ross, designer for Priestess, the man is amazing. Couldn't you just imagine mixing and layering these pieces? Like high versus low contrast? Slinky flawless Priestess dress with beat-up vintage jean jacket?

Now repeat after me because I have developed a new mantra: PRIESTESS CODYROSS PRIESTESS CODYROSS PRIESTESS CODYROSS PRIESTESS CODYROSS PRIESTESS CODYROSS. Ok I'm going to stop raving before this gets too lengthy and people start getting annoyed, haha.

PS: One last little note, if anyone has plans to go to China anytime soon, Priestess is getting pretty big there so be on the look out.

THESE ARE A FEW of the things that are currently on my desk. While packing for my dorm, I purposely packed as little as possible because I knew that I would accumulate little randoms as I went along. The cute bunny candles were a gift from a friend who went to China this Summer. Adorable, no? Oh and I'm currently obsessed with this mango black tea from Trader Joe's, it is delicious. Does anyone else feel that the after taste of coffee is sickening? I can not stand it.

COLLEGE LIFE treats me incredibly well. I have been catching up with old friends and playing with new ones. The work load is tolerable and my dorm is cozy and small. MY ROOMMATE is too nice and our AC works so well it freezes us in 90 degree weather. I wake up early and fall asleep at an unspeakable hour. The natural lights in our room are dim, but we've brought enough lamps for it to be broad daylight when it's actually 1 in the morn. My classes are far, I ride the bus. I get lost by myself when I walk. I eat too much and I've already adopted the library as my second home. ALL IN ALL, life is good.

AS YOU MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW, I will be attending university this year. In the next week or so, I'll be packing, tying up loose ends at mi casa, moving in, taking placement tests, and getting adjusted to a new environment...so I won't be updating for a bit. I have a couple of ideas in the works for what could become little features in the blog, but other than that, entries will continue as always after I get settled.

TODAY MARKS THE first day of the Olympic games, this should be exciting. I will be watching the events that I can, will you? I find it really hard to forget all the politics surrounding the event, but in all honesty, it's difficult to differentiate between what is real and what is biased media. Call it ignorance, but at this point, I barely care any more. I just want to marvel.

MY NINE WEST SHOES arrive on Monday, but in the mean time, I thought I would share my other recent shoe acquisition. I have never owned a pair of nude-taupe shoes before, so I'm still a little confused by them. White and black shoes are easy, but these? I'm baffled.

AND JUST IN CASE any of you were wondering, these are them in color.

COLLEGE DORM SHOPPING somehow brings meaning to the phrase 'CHRISTMAS IN JULY.' Funny thing is, when I innocently asked my parents how much the limit to my spending was, they vaguely told me to get what I needed. I think it's necessary to clarify that my parents and I have very different definition of needs, but no worries, I have some understanding of self control.

HAS ANYONE ELSE purchased dishware from Urban Outfitters? The pricing is decent and they have some cool designs. I opted for plain white plates and mugs. One of the plates got pretty banged up on the way over and one of the mugs was nowhere to be found, but the customer service girl I spoke to was pretty helpful with that.

I CAVED AND I BOUGHT this tshirt. Knowing its unexpected rise to popularity, I am surprised I got it for such a decent price. The sellers could have easily marked it up twenty thirty dollars and I'm sure people would still be buying it. Hell, Topshop's version is going for nearly three times the amount I got mine for. I have come across tutorials on how to Margiela-ize the tshirt with shoulder pads and a few yards of black fabric, but I actually prefer it in its original form. Nice and baggy, to be worn as a dress.

I REALLY SHOULD QUIT IT with the Nine West shoes, I don't even wear heels often and I think it's safe to say I will be wearing them even less on college campus (who knows?), but they are so irresistably cheap I couldn't help myself. Bonus points for having laces and being leather.

UPDATE: I bought the shoes. Whoooo! Thank you all for your input. And even though it doesn't look it in the pictures, the shoes are supposed to be a light grey irl. Cross my fingers that they fit and I'll be able to walk in them...

I'M SLOWLY REALIZING that I will never be one for huge dishes of pasta at overly moody overrated Italian restaurants or the "platter" option at my local steakhouse. It's gross and it makes me feel like I wasted money throwing all the unfinished food away. All I need is a nicely prepared SANDWICH and something cold to drink. That way, I'm always up for dessert.

THE END OF SUMMER signifies the beginning of so many things for me this year. Therefore, I feel that a small change in my personal space in the blogosphere should also be expected. I slightly tweaked the layout and put up a, if somewhat rashly created, header.

All blog-aesthetics set aside, I also completely deleted "LINKAGERY" and restarted "BLOG TOWN." Currently, the only blogs in Blog Town are the ones that popped up in my head after I completely wiped out the 40+ blogs that were previously living there. There was just too much chaos before. Some blogs were shut down, others were abandoned, and others just completely switched gears and I had no idea what they were doing there...

So if you want your blog added or re-added (because I know I deleted quite a few that I can't remember the link to now), just leave a comment with a link. I promise I'll add all of you in due time!

I've mentioned my love for shoulder cut-outs previously, but after a few random searches and browsing, I've found that their not obscure as one may think. Urban Outfitters even stocks the concept now... I really like the tops by Weekday (top picture, far right), which roughly look like tshirts with the shoulders cut out and banding on the hem, a DIY perhaps?

Richard Chai x Target first look

NYLON mag offered a first look at what's to come for the Richard Chai and Target collaboration that is slated to drop right in time for back to school season. You can definitely bet that I will be saving my pretty pennies for this collection, namely those two blazer jackets. Both of which are pictured below. Comments have said that the collection is "nothing out of the ordinary" or simply "boring," but I think people making these comments are not fully aware that something too unique or too extraordinary would not flow with the general Target shoppers of America, which I will wager have not even heard of Richard Chai. (Can't you just imagine? The name Richard Chai is more likely to conjure up images of chai tea lattes or other related caffeinated drinks than high fashion clothing and accessories in the minds of typical Target consumers!) Not to mention the fact that in constructing these pieces, they had to keep some kind of budget in mind.

So what are your thoughts on the upcoming collection?

Whatever happened to the concept earrings? The focus in the realm of jewelery seems to be bangles/bracelets, rings, and necklaces. I bring this up because I recently got my ears pierced and there seems to be a void in the "bling" arena. The last craze over earrings I remember was the gold door-knocker earrings that were made popular by the likes of Lily Allen and before that, all I can recall is the obsession over Mary-Kate Olsen's wooden O's she wore whilst attending NYU. Whatever the case may be, I aim to revive this form of jewelery because it is seriously under appreciated.

shoulder cut-outs and jodhpur ankle boots

I am obsessed with them (shoulder cut-outs, that is) and I have all but failed to find affordable renderings of the above pieces. Do take pity on me and/or point me in the right direction? There's something very nonchalantly cool about a loosely fitted full-sleeved dress that has cut-outs on the shoulders. Not to mention the fact that shoulder cut-outs are perfect for when you don't feel like bearing it all, but still want to show some sort skin in the midst of the hot hot heat... Oh and if you have spare dinero to burn, the two dresses are Zero Maria Cornejo and Pudel which you can buy here and here, respectively.

And oh forgive me bloggers and readers, but I have sinned once again. Despite 100+ degree days of late, I have continued to purchase items that are unfit for the weather. The latest come in the form of these LL Bean jodhpur ankle height boots. I justified these babies by telling myself that since they are rain and snow proof and how I've been looking for a pair of rainboots for the illest about of time, that they were a necessary buy. In addition, they would actually work with Summer dresses, wouldn't they? I mean, the whole boots in the Summer thing, yea...?

Lastly, the whole housing situation (no AC = death, type thing?) that I mentioned in a previous post has been figured out; thanks to my roommate that has been godly when it comes to rectifying bad rooming. I now have air con, my parents will be shelling out an additional $550 per semester, I will be in a suite rather than a double, and everyone's happy! Funny thing is, I have never talked to my roommate face to face before, only via Facebook. We can all marvel at the powers of the Interweb now. And how I will officially end this post now before I start rattling on about some other mundane detail of my personal life.

The title of this post is from the movie Kungfu Panda which I saw today between briefly escaping the heat at the ice rink and playing cards in Taco Bell for 2.5 hours after Goldfish*, Pianoforte*, and I had finished our meals. Oh and I also browsed the Rogan for Target collection and came away with this really intense-looking bracelet (not Rogan) that I bought on a total whim. It better not break on me, I like it a lot and it seemed like it was the only one!

Aforementioned bracelet is modeled by my bear, you like?

I wonder why it is that the hotter it gets (the high for today was in the 100s) the more I purchase cold weather things. I can only justify them by saying to myself that Summer means dressing like a slob and spending no money whatsoever on clothes and I am "investing" in cold weather. The most recent investment just so happens to be something from Lover AW07 collection via the oh-so-dependable Ebay. I won't launch into specifics just yet because cold weather is a ways away, and I like to save some excitement for later?
