The first day of the Olympic games, this should be exciting. I will be watching the events that I can, will you? I find it really hard to forget all the politics surrounding the event, but in all honesty, it's difficult to differentiate between what is real and what is biased media. Call it ignorance, but at this point, I barely care any more. I just want to marvel.

  1. As much as i am excited for the Olympic, I found it hard to forget those ugly things behind as well. (politics, economic, eco issue.) 1/2 of China is crying for their hunger/survival and they are spending that huge amount money for holding the game? Well.. I hate to badmouth my motherland, but the beautiful ceremony Wows me and frightens me at the same time. I mean, those poor farmer living in the inferior region is starving!

I do love the sportmanship though.

  5. I just watched the opening ceremony and WOWEEEEEE!! I'm super pumped up! and while it's true that China and the world for that matter has a lot of problems, i think the olympics bring out hope and inspiration. my dad said that they spent 40 billion on the opening ceremony.. but it sure was amazing though.

  6. I stayed up watching the opening ceremony last night, it was great! Yao and the little boy who survived the earthquake as the flag-bearers was possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen.

and i knowww there is so much politics surrounding the olympics, but I mean, I guess thats expected when a bunch of people fro different countries are uspposed to meet up in one place to compete.
And although the China opening ceremony was nice, I think I liked the one by Athens (4 years ago) better. I dont know why- it wasnt as high tech, but it was very theatrical and beautiful.

  12. looove the shot with the javelin.
i'm excited for the olympics. I'm disapointed that China's actions are sort of overshadowing the games. i'm also let down that China didn't make more of an effort to promote human rights in their own county - they might be the most powerful nation in the world right now but their actions do nothing to help their image in the world.
