Google is going to blow them out of the water

Before Blingo decided to go completely wonky for who knows what reason and used Yahoo, rather than Google, for the searches, it was my primary search engine. I mean, who doesn't enjoy free presents just for Google-ing whatever your heart desires? But now that it has switched to Yahoo, it's just not the same and I have reverted back to safe ole, regular Google (not the iGoogle mess yet though). I can't help but Google myself and all my user names from time to time just to see how prevalent I am on the Interweb. God I am a dork and slightly self-obsessed, I know. Oh and the majority of the blogs I visit I get to through Google because I can't be bothered enough to search through bookmarks, etc. when Google is set as home.

Anyway, today's Google background confuses me. At first I thought it was maracas, you know the Spanish noisemaker that you shake? But now I am just confused, is it some holiday? What did Jeff Koons, the photographer, photograph and why is it up today?

go go Gorjana

Last Tuesday, after a short email correspondence with Iva at Gorjana the week before, a package arrived for me from Gorjana all the way from Laguna Beach, California.

Prior to being contacted, I was already relatively familiar with Gorjana because of my frequent visits to Shopbop.com and Maxandchloe.com, so when it came down to which necklace I would choose for a write-up, a plethora of styles came to mind. At first, the Twinkle Star necklace appealed to me, but after some major deliberation on my part, I opted for the Heritage necklace. Gorjana creates jewelery that is simple in idea, attentive to detail, and small/dainty when worn. The Heritage necklace I received has no clasp as other necklaces do, but instead is a working lock! This did take me a minute to figure out (I thought I would have to attempt to pull it over my head), but it was a happy surprise. In addition, all of Gorjana's pieces are incredibly light and layerable. I put a few other necklaces I owned in a picture together and I think they juxtapose each other quite nicely. Plus, they are not astronomically priced (the majority of things are within the $60-250 price range with the exception of fine jewelery).

Gorjana's entire collection is now available for purchase on their new website Gorjana.com. And I must admit, I have been eyeing a certain pair of Aster Stud earrings as well as a stack of stackable rings. Oh and lastly, A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO IVA AT GORJANA!

tag, you are it

I was tagged by Fruchtwzwerg's Island, Chic Closet, and Cerulean Heels.

Here are the rules:
1. Link the person who tagged you.
2. Mention the rules in your blog.
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
4. Tag 6 following bloggers by linking them.
5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger's blogs letting them know they've been tagged.

Here we go:
1. As gross and odd as this sounds, I like eating quite a few of my foods stale. I think stale toast tastes better than fresh out of the toaster toast and I even purposely let the toast stay out for a few hours before consumption. The same think goes for cheese puffs, I leave the bag open and then eat.

2. I often have my toes underneath my feet when I'm not wearing shoes, especially when I'm sitting down. It got to be a habit around ninth grade and I am not sure what really caused it.

3. I eat cups of ice. Before I got braces, I could eat four average-sized cups in 30-40 minutes, but after braces my rate became slower and I can only eat two cups for the same amount of time.

4. Ever since I changed my tooth brush from soft to medium, I feel like my teeth are just so much cleaner than what they were before. I never quite understood the toothpaste commercials when people said their teeth felt clean, but now I do!

5. I go through phases of living with complete order and disorder. For example, a month ago I suddenly felt so incredibly disgusted with my room that I rearranged all the furniture, which is no easy feat considering my room is tiny and I had to move my bookshelf, bed and desk from one side of the room to another. Currently, my room is messy again and I feel like I can still function despite the mess.

6. I value sleep above all else.

So many people have already done the survey, I'm not sure who else I should tag. Please comment and let me know if you would like to be linked/tagged!

look at the stars, look how they shine on you

I had not meant to be away from the blogosphere for such a long period of time, but what with the end of third quarter last last friday and the frenzy of the final quarter of senior year this week, I got a teensy weensy bit sidetracked. Anyway, I am back and ready for action!

I caught up with a friend on Friday who I have barely talked to at all this school year due to conflicting schedules and different "hang out" groups, but I had some one-on-one session with her which started at a shopping plaza and ended with Facebooking at the library and me discovering the bumper sticker application on Facebook. I got earrings + a glass ring from a store that was a fusion of mid-range jewelery and pet food? In the middle of the store there were a bunch of glass cake plates and candy stands with these dainty pretty, decorated desserts underneath them. Upon closer inspection, I saw that they were selling collars on the same table and then when I asked the SA, she told me that the stuff was all pet treats! Okay, come on, what pet is going to care that he is having $10 worth of petit fours and a carrot cake treat? Well the truth is, if I had the dollars and the pet I would pamper him/her too...

like to play PS2 'til six in the mornin' like I do

I hate for this place to become a self advocacy/promotion blog what with my post yesterday egging everyone to vote for me in the SiTV fashion challenge, but I wanted to extend the opportunity for you guys to buy my brother's PS2 and games via Ebay (I guess it wouldn't be self promotion if I was telling you to buy something from my brother). Bidding starts at $50 which is incredibly low considering the games he's offering and Dance Dance Revolution complete with the mat. The lot includes: PS2 game console, two PS2 controllers, 11 games, plus DDR and dance mat. You can contact him at yellowjz@gmail.com if you want more information.

cast your vote for me please

I would really appreciate it if everyone that reads and/or enjoys this blog could vote for me at the SiTV fashion challenge that I'm doing online. I can't give you any details about the competition because I'm a bit miffed about them as well. I wrote a "blog entry" on an outfit I previously wore and have posted on here, and I really think I stand a chance (you can browse what I'm up against in terms of outfits) in this competition. In the case that you do vote for me, it would be awesome if you just left a comment on here letting me know so I could express to you my deep, heartfelt appreciation for you casting a vote. I could really use the 500 dinero right now!

click on the link below to read the short blog entry I submitted and to vote!

Reebok freestyle city series

If you've been bothered to take a gander at my wishlist (that never stops growing, I tell you!), on the right modules, you'll notice that I have the Reebok freestyle hi tops on my wishlist in a pure, basic white. The relatively recent release of the Reebok city series features designs inspired by six cities around the world: London, Paris, Tokyo, Madrid, New Delhi, and New York is pretty tempting as well. My only question is, where oh where is the Chinese city? I understand that Shanghai is far too westernized to actually be set apart from the other cities, but what about the stereotypical Beijing? Reebok, you could do a kitschy red and yellow pair with a print of intricate silk embroidery and metallic gold velcro straps. I would totally go for that and I'd buy it in a heartbeat, if not only to represent. I even made a little inspiration board with swatches!

a fool must now and then be right, by chance

Seeing as I have a substantial amount of time to spare because of Spring Break and that it is April Fools in the United States of George W. Bush, I will post this rather foolish video of my experience with a "Grow Your Own _____" toy. I got it last week at the Dollar Store along with a few others (popcorn, seal, ice cream, etc.) Don't question my purpose in creating the video, because I'm not sure if I can give you one. I am really fucking random, and I get entertained easily. Just watch and listen, comment if you have something to say.
